Abstract

This study aims to dissect the trajectory of women literature development against the backdrop of social transformation in modern and contemporary China, analyzing how women literature reflects the changing concepts of femininity and the elevation of women’s social status through literary works. The study employs methods such as literature analysis, comparative analysis, and empirical research to select significant works of women literature from the early 20th to the early 21st century, covering various dimensions including school evolution, stylistic innovation, and thematic content. It delves into deconstructing the female images and consciousness in literary works. Research indicates that the development of Chinese women literature can be divided into four stages, including the embryonic stage, anti-Japanese war stage, new era stage, and contemporary online stage. In addition, the development of the Internet platform has had a profound impact on contemporary women literature by female writers. This study not only reviews the history of Chinese women literature, but also explores the significant impact of social changes on it, revealing how female writers advocate gender equality and enhance women’s self-awareness through their works, demonstrating the unique value of women literature in enriching Chinese literature and promoting progress of society.
